When one document beats six attachments

Plenty of processes insist on a single PDF: visa applications, expense claims, rental references, insurance submissions and university admissions all commonly ask for one file. What you actually have is a handful of photographs taken on a phone.

Converting them yourself avoids two problems. You are not emailing photographs of identity documents to a conversion service, and you control the page order rather than hoping the tool guesses correctly.

docu4all builds the PDF in your browser, one image per page at the image's own dimensions, so nothing is stretched or cropped in the process.

How to do it, step by step

1

Add your images

Drop in as many as you need. JPG, PNG, WebP and iPhone HEIC photos are all accepted.

2

Put them in order

Drag the thumbnails until the sequence is right. This is the order the pages will appear in.

3

Tidy them up first

Crop away the desk or background, rotate anything sideways, and resize if the photos are very large.

4

Choose Merge to PDF

Pick PDF as the merge mode and download a single document containing every image as its own page.

Getting a clean result from phone photos

Photographs of documents benefit enormously from two minutes of preparation. Crop tightly to the edges of the paper so the page is the document rather than a picture of a document on a table, and rotate anything the camera saved sideways before merging rather than after.

If the finished PDF is larger than the upload form allows, compress the images before merging rather than shrinking the PDF afterwards. Reducing each photo to around 2000 pixels wide usually brings a six-page document comfortably under the common limits while staying perfectly legible.
