When you drop a file onto a typical online PDF service, it is uploaded to that company's servers, processed there and sent back. The result is the same, but the trust model is completely different: your document now exists on hardware you do not control, governed by a retention policy you probably did not read.
Reputable services delete files after a period and many are genuinely careful. But the risk is structural rather than a question of good intentions. A server holding documents can be breached, subpoenaed, misconfigured or quietly repurposed, and none of that is visible to you.
docu4all removes the server from the equation. The editor is JavaScript running in your browser, using your own machine's memory and processor. There is no upload step, no storage bucket and no account with copies of your files, because there is no backend at all.

Editing happens locally

The PDF is written on your machine
When you download, the finished file is assembled in your browser and handed to your downloads folder.

How to verify the claim yourself
You do not have to take this on trust, which is the point. Open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, then load a PDF and edit it. You will see the page and its code load once, and no request carrying your document afterwards.
